This team dose not have the money to throw away on a RDP buyout, trust me, there never going to buy him out, i think they still hope he can play one day, or they can trade it off his contract. |

They have a lot of money, but they're too cheap to spend it. |

James Reimer? - PatC80
Quit trying to get rid of Reimer - we're going to need him.
I think the Isles should pick up Bryz after the Flyers buy him out, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in the KHL or even worse - back in Phoenix. |

Berglund signed, Shattenkirk imminent, you know Pietrangelo will be signed...does this mean Chris Stewart is the odd RFA out in St. Louis?
Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie 4h
MTL (Gomez/Kaberle) and PHI (Briere/Bryzgalov) are for sures. NYI haven't committed on DiPietro but one would think it's likely.

Article on Clutterbuck:
MINNESOTA IN NEED OF SALARY CAP SPACE
The Minnesota Wild's re-signing of goaltender Niklas Backstrom to a three-year, $10.25-million contract (annual cap hit: $3.42 million) leaves GM Chuck Fletcher with roughly $3.3 million in cap space.
That's not enough to re-sign or replace free agents Matt Cullen, Cal Clutterbuck, Jared Spurgeon and Justin Falk.
Michael Russo of Startribune.com believes GM Chuck Fletcher has little choice but to free up space via trades or compliance buyouts.
Russo believes trade candidates include Clutterbuck, Falk, Zenon Konopka and Tom Gilbert, though the latter's declining performance and $4 million salary will make him a tough sell. If Fletcher cannot find a trade partner for Gilbert, the blueliner could receive a compliance buyout.
Russo claims the Edmonton Oilers have interest in Clutterbuck and reported the Wild contacted them about a trade involving Oilers prospect Tyler Pitlick. |

If the Canucks end up wanting to buyout Roberto Luongo, why not trade him to the Islanders instead and take back Rick DiPietro's contract. The Islanders would be able to have a very solid starter, and the Canucks could buyout DiPietro, who would cost the Canucks less money. Obviously, picks/prospects could be included to make this a fair deal, but to me it makes some sense. Any thoughts? |

Yeah its been discussed like crazy. Canucks fans think it will take Strome or Nino and the Isles fans think it won't happen at all |

It would be okay with me as long as its not for a guy like Strome or Nino. If it was a draft pick I would be happy |

Strome or Nino? Nah, that's an overpayment. I was thinking more like this:
To Vancouver :
Rick DiPietro
3rd round pick in 2014
To NY Islanders :
Roberto Luongo
The Isles would be doing the Canucks a favor by taking on the larger contract. The Nucks should count their blessings if any team takes that contract. |

Luongo would cost 27 million to buy out, Dipietro 24 million.
why go through all that to do for so little difference in money. |

Buying out RDP is the least the organization can do to prove they want to move on and get better especially if they are not going to make a splash in free agency..............I personally think that where this team is at, adding Vanek and Miller through trade of prospects and picks makes this team dangerous. Pick up a 3/4 defenseman and we are taking the next step. |

If Vancouver can get a pick/prospect and save 3 million why not? It would benefit both teams. |

I recall somebody mentioning that Vancouver would still be liable for Lou's cap hit if he retired before the end of the contract (which he will). Not sure if that's accurate. |

Well, it may not sound like much, but the Nuck's are saving $3,000,000, and would gain a 3rd round draft pick. About what the Nucks should expect to receive in my opinion. |

Roberto Luongo is 34 years old and signed until 2022. I think the Islanders would be crazy to want that contract.
If I were the Isles, I would buyout Dipietro, sign a veteran goalie to a short term deal along with Poulin and see how it goes. |

#Isles have no decision on buyouts (i.e., DiPietro) as of now. As for Nabokov, source says he is "probably" headed to FA next w |

I agree but if they don't buy out DP then that would not be a bad option. The right way to go would be to buyout DP and not have to worry about a crazy contract. |
